I have always loved the idea of taking my character,
Temperance Brennan, from traditional literature to the small or big screen. I
love writing novels, but there are more plot lines than I can work into a
lifetime of books. My years of experience in the lab and at the crime scene
have provided a storehouse of ideas that are intense, chilling,
heartwarming, and powerful. Television will now provide the opportunity to
share theses stories through a brand new medium.
During Upfront Week 2005 in New York City, I learned a lot about the people
with whom I'll be working. The extraordinary commitment at Fox and at 20th
Century Fox Television Studio assures me that each Bones episode will
honor my colleagues at the lab and in law enforcement and the science of
anthropology that I hold dear. Working with the most talented team in
Hollywood, I pledge to provide my readers gripping stories, engaging
characters, and realistic science, all underlain by a wee bit of humor!
So sit back, grab the remote, and join us each Tuesday at 8. Watch forensic
anthropologist Tempe Brennan tackle cases by day while writing novels about
fictional heroine Kathy Reichs by night. (Yep. You read that right!)
Kathy
Summary
From executive producers Barry Josephson ("Hide and Seek," "Like Mike")
and Hart Hanson ("Joan of Arcadia," "Judging Amy") comes the darkly amusing
drama BONES, inspired by real-life forensic anthropologist and novelist
Kathy Reichs. Forensic anthropologist DR. TEMPERANCE BRENNAN (Emily
Deschanel, "Boogeyman"), who works at the Jeffersonian Institution and
writes novels as a sideline, has an uncanny ability to read clues left
behind in a victim's bones. Consequently, law enforcement calls her in to
assist with murder investigations when the remains are so badly decomposed,
burned or destroyed that the standard identification methods are useless.
Brennan's equally brilliant colleagues at the Jeffersonian's Medico-Legal
Lab include earthy and bawdy ANGELA MONTENEGRO (Michaela Conlin, "The
D.A."), who's created a unique way to render an original crime scene in a
three-dimensional computer image; Brennan's assistant, ZACK ADDY (Eric
Millegan), a young prodigy whose genius IQ actually gets in the way of his
finishing the several doctorates he has begun; "the bug guy," DR. JACK
HODGINS (TJ Thyne, "How the Grinch Stole Christmas"), who's an expert on
insects, spores and minerals, but conspiracy is his hobby; and Brennan's
boss, imposing lab director DR. DANIEL GOODMAN (Jonathan Adams, "American
Dreams"). Brennan often finds herself teamed with Special Agent SEELEY BOOTH
(David Boreanaz, "Angel"), a former Army sniper who mistrusts science and
scientists when it comes to solving crimes. Brennan and Booth clash both
professionally and personally, but so far the chemistry between them has
only played out in a fictionalized account in Brennan's latest mystery
novel.

As an acting student, Boreanaz lived the life of a starving artist,
making ends meet by parking cars, painting houses and handing out towels
at a sports club. His first big break was a guest spot on "Married ...
with Children," in which he played the biker boyfriend of Kelly Bundy
(Christina Applegate).
Boreanaz's most recent projects include the romantic comedy "I'm with

Jonathan Adams plays Dr. Goodman
Jonathan
Adams was born and raised in Pittsburgh as the youngest of five children.
The son of a health care worker and a General Electric foreman, Adams
discovered at 16 that “acting was the only thing that gave me joy.” After
performing in high school productions, he enrolled in his hometown’s
Carnegie Mellon University to study theater. When he ran out of cash for
his education after 18 months, Adams sought work in Pittsburgh’s live
theater scene and eventually was cast in playwright Arthur Miller’s
“Danger: Memory!” After appearing in additional stage work, he co-starred
in the locally filmed and low-budget feature “Two Evil Eyes.”
In 1989, Adams moved to Seattle and starred in
several classical theater productions – as well as many vehicles penned by
August Wilson – as staged across the country. He married his wife, actress
Monica Farrell, in 1994 and the couple set up household in Ashland, OR
three years later, while Adams appeared in various plays for the Oregon
Shakespeare Festival. His varied credits over four seasons there include
“The Taming of the Shrew,” “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” and “Cymbeline.”
Adams’ big career break came in 2000 during his
performance as “Petruchio” in “The Taming of the Shrew,” when the casting
director of “Frasier” saw his work and urged him to come to Los Angeles to
test for other roles. His television credits include guest-starring roles
in “Frasier,” “City of Angels,” “Walker, Texas Ranger,” “Felicity” and a
series regular role on “The American Embassy” as the U.S. consul general
in London.
When not working, Adams enjoys spending time with
his wife and two children. He also enjoys playing chess and reading
historical fiction and science fiction.
